Specialty Units

March in the parade with a group as a specialty unit!

Specialty units offers an excellent opportunity to let your creativity show. Specialty Units are more than just walking groups. Specialty Units add creative entertainment to the parade. We are looking for groups that will entertain attendees throughout the parade route as well as add value to the overall parade experience. This is a competitive application as the parade has limited slots. We are looking for specialty units that are unique, organized, and can incorporate special lighting elements into their performance. Units included in this category may include, but are not limited to:

  • Community organizations or neighborhood groups

  • Talent able to perform while walking (jugglers, stilt walkers, etc.)

  • Dance groups

Please note that the specialty units do NOT include the following:

  • No animals are allowed in the parade

  • No third-party floats are allowed in the parade

  • No mechanical vehicles are allowed in the parade. This is a rule change from previous years due to safety concerns.

Applications for the 2024 Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade will close on August 31, 2024, with selected participants being notified in early September 2024. For any inquiries, please contact Logan Coon at Lcoon@charlottecentercity.org.

Dance Groups

We are looking for dance groups that are uniform, organized, and can incorporate special lighting elements into their performance. This is a competitive application as the parade will include four (4) performances on live television; however, other dance groups have the opportunity to walk in the parade but will not stop on the performance floor.

Your dance group may be selected as a performance group or walking unit. Dance groups accepted as walking units are encouraged to perform as they walk through the performance floor. However, walking dance groups must make a forward progression through the performance floor and will not be allowed to stop. Dance groups that are unorganized or stop on the performance floor without permission will not be invited back to participate in the parade.
